Brewers @ Cardinals Series Thread

Friday: Claudio Vargas vs. Mike Maroth

Saturday: Manny Parra vs. Brad Thompson

Saturday Againg: Chris Capuano vs. Anthony Reyes

Sunday: Yovani Gallardo vs. Kip Wells

Thoughts: Vargas, isn't that good, but Maroth is horrible, so the Brew Crew should get off to the quick 1-0 lead in the series. Manny Parra is due to make his first ever career start, and I do think he is a lot better of a pitcher than Thompson, so lets just hope Parra gets nervous. Reyes is back for the 2nd game in the double header, and it's not looking good because Cappy is a better pitcher than him. So, so far I'm predicting the series 3-0 right now. Then theres Sunday, Wells has been very good his last couple starts, but unfortunately he's running into one of the best young pitchers in the game in 21 year old Yovani Gallardo. So there it is, I'm predicting a sweep of the Cardinals., which means we'll sweep them somehow and be "buyers" at the deadline.

For the season, we have only one possibility: sweep the Brewers. It's gonna be very hard, my prediction is a split

What's even more amazing is the Cards are actually giving Anthony run support.

Reyes coming into the day had the lowest run support with a minumum of 60 IP, with a staggering 1.92, the 2nd lowest 2.76 which tells you something.

This team is always a crazy team. With a win tonight, we could still believe in a playoff spot. But if we lose this game, the season will be over for us. I also think that tonight's game will decide our strategy for the deadline.

What a game, what a victory! There's still hope for us, we have to keep alive this winning streak and we have a chance to do it. Pirates and Nationals for us, Phillies and Mets for Cubs and Brewers....

Great couple days. I still cant believe we took 3 of 4 from them.

I just hope we don't trade away Reyes now, for some "veteran" help. I doubt we'll make any moves that really matter anyways.

I still don't think we'll make the playoffs buy at least were within 6 games now. We do have 2 easy series' coming up. Then the Padres and Dodgers. Then there will probably be the most important 7 game stretch of the season from Aug. 14-20 against the Brewers and Cubs.

I also hope we don't trade Reyes, this guy need confidence because he can pitch. If you are a bad pitcher, you don't pitch as Reyes did in game 1 of the World Series. For this playoff run I would not try to acquire some veteran for helping the team, I'll make the run with this team....at the deadline I'd try to acquire some prospect.

Well that was fun! A couple of huge come-from-behind wins...

The Brewers are fading fast. It's the Cubs that I'm more worried about trying to catch.

I doubt now that we are trading anyone significant like Isringhausen this week. Which in a way is a bit of a shame, but OTOH I don't ever want to see our front office telling our team that they are hopeless when they are six games out in July.

I also doubt that we are going to be "buyers" this week in any significant way. Probably we ride it out with what we have. I'd like to at least see Reyes back in the rotation and Maroth demoted. We need for Reyes, Wells, Wainwright, Looper, and Thompson to step up for the rest of this season. If they can, then we still have a fighting chance at making the postseason.

Wow.

I don't care what happens this year. With all that's happened. Josh Hancock gettting killed, Carp out for the year, Mulder's still not back, Reyes' problems, Wells' problems, Pujols' awful start, Edmonds and Rolen's injuries and slow starts, Ecksteins injury and early slumping, Enco's injuries, Yadi's injuries, Kennedy being a huge disappointment so far, Maroth not bringing us anything in that trade.

We still have a shot being only 6 games back. Regardless, I'm proud of this team the way they have battled.
"didnt you watch the game with the raptors?bucks is also a playoff team ,they have enough ability to find wins from dalas and utach,
