1 game back of the Central division lead. And Mr. Mark Mulder makes his return to the mound tomorrow, how ironic.
That would be something for him to get through 5 or 6 and get a Win and get the Central division lead back for the first time in well, forever.

That is a plausible Mulder scenario for sure. More plausible than believing Joel Pineiro would come over from the Boston bullpen and lead us back to within one game out of first in the Division. Pineiro! Four wins already for the Birds! Who would have thunk it?

But then he couldn't possibly be any worse than Kip Wells, who has lost us 11 freaking games this season in which he gave up five runs or more. Sounds like maybe LaDuncan are finally coming to their senses and getting ready to drop Kipster from the rotation.

The real question is do the Cardinals have anyone good enough to justify dropping Reyes from the rotation. I'm not sure we do.

And LaRussa has decided to give away today's game by giving the start to Maroth. You know we are completely out of real options when Maroth is getting another start.
In case you couldn't tell, I'm feeling a tad pessimistic this morning.

Also, Ankiel for President!
