vs.

Friday, 7:10 p.m.: Adam Wainwright [1-2, 6.14] vs. Chris Sampson [3-1, 3.55]

Saturday, 12:10 p.m.: Kip Wells [1-5, 5.65] vs. Woody Williams [0-4, 5.66]

Sunday, 1:15 p.m.: Braden Looper [3-2, 2.84] vs. Matt Albers [0-1, 5.02]

We are catching a big break by missing Roy Oswalt's turn in the rotation. And the Astros aren't hitting much better than we are. Time to start turning this season around with some wins.

We're really catching a break because we don't have to face Wandy Rodriguez, kid has been bananas good so far.

Woody Williams has been god awful this year, hopefully he continues on that. Woody has the 4th highest xFIP in the NL with pitchers that have pitched at least 20 innings. Matt Alblers has also been pretty bad.

Chris Sampson has been pretty good this season for the Astros, not Wandy Rodriguez good, but still impressive for him. The way the 3 pitchers we're playing against are pitching Sampson has been by far the best.

So by logic we lose the first game and win the last two. But of couse logic never happens so it will probably be the opposite.

Well it looks like Woody will be pitching tonight as Sampson was a late scratch. This just messes up all the logic. Now I have to predict a sweep, which of course means we'll get swept.

Thank you, Astros, for not pitching around Albert.

I don't know why they gave him a chance to win the game. Don't they have tape of the .220, no-power hitters who bat fourth through ninth in our lineup?

Will Scott Rolen ever get another hit? What in hell is wrong with him?

Hey, we won. It was not a confidence-inspiring win, but Wainwright pitched better, and the bullpen continues to look pretty solid.

We got outscored 16-6 this weekend...and took two games out of three. :)

Preston Wilson went on the 15-day DL with a knee problem ( ) and Ryan Ludwick got called up from Memphis. Ludwick played right field and showed right away that he fits into the lineup...he went 0-4 like everybody else. :sigh:

Brian Falkenborg also got called up, with Dennis Dove getting sent back down to Memphis.

Rolen picked a good time to finally get a hit. Still...1 for his last 25. I don't get it.

Edmonds is now hitting under .200.

Pujols with another off-day.

But Kennedy went 3-4 in the leadoff spot. Fluke, or not?

And Looper with another solid outing even though he didn't look like he had his best stuff.

And Franklin and Izzy continue to get it done in the late innings.
