Not much to say, other then I feel bad for Chris. I wish him well on the surgery and his road to recovery. Hopefully he comes back even stronger then before.

Oh, crap. I'm sorry for our Birds, but mostly for Chris. Kind of puts a different light on the season.

I'd 99 percent given up on this season anyway, but this screws us for next year as well. And maybe beyond that--who knows if Carpenter will ever be an elite pitcher again?
Man, have the Cardinals crapped out on their personnel decisions this year. Some of it has been bad decision-making, but Carpenter is just pure bad luck--the guy signed for the home-team discount and seemed perfectly healthy at the time.
We are going to have to spend some money on starting pitching this winter. The only guy coming back who I have any real enthusiasm about is Wainwright, there is next to no immediate help on the way in our farm system, and we have very few trade assets. I wasn't pissed last winter when we didn't spend the money, but if we don't spend it this winter I will be.

Great post, I couldn't agree more.

That's an ugly, but expected, news. After the rehab start, when he was still feeling pain in the elbow, I knew that this was the only conclusion of the process. A tommy John surgery....I hope Chris can return stronger than before. See you in 2009 Chris.

This is so sad, we just gave him all that money and now he's broken. His career could be over. He will without a doubt be out all of next year too. I'm thinking the Cardinals sold there baseball soul for that Championship last year.

Maybe so, but if we did, it was worth it.
This year is pretty sad, but nowhere near as sad as it would have been to see one of the best eras in team history come to an end with no championship to show for it.

Its horrible news, but we aren't done yet, by any means.
