Spoke with Matt Silverman- Rays President

Post#1 » by craig01 » Wed Apr 23, 2008 8:23 pm

I got a chance to speak with Matt Silverman at the Rays game at Disney.

Learned a few tidbits....will pass on later.

Nothing earth shattering, but I think he will do a Q & A with me down the road.

Hey, if anyone would like to submit a question....leave it on this thread. I won't approach him until early next week.

- Is there any thought to trading some of your organizational outfield depth (Jennings, Salem, Vogt, Ruggiano, Perez, Pedroza, Loyola, Royster, Matulia, Fronk, Kang, Reynolds, Biell, Stewart, Hall, Andrus, Groce) for more depth at middle infield?

- Given how many viable MLB starters you might have in a couple years (Kazmir, Shields, Garza, Jackson, Sonnanstine, Hammel, McGee, Niemann, Price, Hellickson, et. al.) is a 6 man rotation being considered?

- Are you considering signing Barry Bonds?

- Is Rocco Baldelli (health aside) still going to be part of this organization in one form or another after his contract expires?

- How come we haven't been more aggressive in signing FA pitching (i.e. Kyle Lohse)?

Thanks guys.

I fired off an email to him today. Now we just have to see if he'll still allow me to do it.

I sent off the Q and A interview to Matt Silverman a few days ago.

It took him about to weeks to respond to my follow up inquiry, but agreed to do the Q and A with me.

I'll post it when it's returned to me.
