Burrell may be headed to the Padres.
I didn't think he'd accept the DFA, and am glad for the Rays that he didn't ($$$$$$$$$).
I think he'll bounce back some in the NL as one of his problems no doubt was adjusting to the DH role.
Still, Burrell did little to fit in with the Rays and caused some tension (and almost a clubhouse brawl with Crawford last year) by being indifferent as a teammate.

Somebody will take a chance on Burrell, it was only 2 seasons ago that he was one of the top power hitters in baseball with an annual OPS in the 900 range every season.
But Pat Gillick certainly let him go at right time.

Looks like the Padres will offer a minor league assignment.
