OT: MLB Could Ban A-Rod For Life

Major League Baseball is prepared to hand a lifetime suspension to Alex Rodriguez, according to two sources.

The ban could come as soon as this weekend

This guy has fallen really hard these past few years.

I personally like it and think its great for Baseball. I think it should happen more often... or at least harsher penalties than just 50 games suspensions.

I also think Braun should be punished a little harsher than he has been. I don't think he should be banned for life but maybe two years without pay or something.

The MLB has to make sure that people stop doing this stuff even if it means harsher penalties. If they keep it the same, people will just keep using anything that gives them an unfair edge IMO.

Apparently, the evidence against A-Roid is overwhelming.

I would like to see a lifetime ban too, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I don't expect them to do it either, but I'll definitely still be disappointed if they don't do it.

I think MLB values confessions the most. Braun came out and said he made mistakes. I think MLB appreciated that and compromised on the punishment.

This whole ordeal gives me a real sense of pride as a Rays fan. Clean, fun, good character guys. Oh ya, they're not bad at baseball either!

Kinda like cops. The more you give them a hard time, the more penalties/fines/time in jail they give you.

Why is the MLB trying to get a deal done with A-Rod? Just suspend/ban him. If they make a deal all it would do is say to other MLB players that they can cheat and if they get caught just make a deal to get out of it.

Obviously, the deal wouldn't be great for the players. They'd probably have to give up a lot of their salary, and they would most likely be suspended for awhile, but, they'd still be back eventually.

Possible, but contrition should only go so far, and frankly I am tired of it.

It's time for baseball to pull a Judge Landis and make offenders pay dearly.

If A-Roid has done some of the things that have been rumored, then the ONLY thing to do is give him a lifetime ban.

A 1.5 year ban is significant no doubt, and with what would have been a first ballot HOF'er. This ban would exclude MLB from further legal issues, but really ..... if he did these things .... then make this jerk disappear from the game.

Being a Rays fan, the best benefit of the 1.5 year ban is that the Yanks would still have to eat the rest of that ridiculous contract

I agree 100%.

They actually have to do something now IMO. They've waited to long.

A-Roid answered a few questions after his rehab game last night, and basically claimed it was a conspiracy being driven by the Yankees, as they don't want him back for obvious ($$$$$$) reasons.

Might be some truth to it, and although I would like to him him banned ....... I still would like to see the Yankees be forced to deal with his financial burden.

Yeah, either way the Rays win.

The only way the Red Sox and Rays can lose here is if the MLB give the Yankee$ a free amnesty.

The political banter between A-Roids camp and supposedly MLB is predictable, posturing, and boring.

Of course, this is "rumored" bantering, as neither side is admitting to negotiating the penalty.

Note to MLB: GET ON WITH IT.

Note to A-Roid: GET ON WITH IT.

I'm honestly not sure what they're waiting for. Do they gain something from waiting?

MLB is probably waiting for the Yankees to give their approval.

Lol

Finally! I still don't understand why they didn't just suspend him on the spot but whatever.

Yeah, I feel real change coming for Baseball (in a good way of course).

Everyone is outraged. Including the players, media, managers and owners.

This could be a very good day for this great game!
