Aki to DL, Cantu to return
Last night's win over the Yankees came at a cost, as the Rays will have to place 3B Akinori Iwamura on the disabled list with a strained oblique today.

The team will recall Jorge Cantu from Triple-A Durham.

They could be outlandish and have Wigginton play third and let Jonny Gomes actually DH. That would be nice, would it not?

Wigginton at 3B should definitely be a possibility, but Jorge has been getting time at 3B in Durham so he will probably just man the position until Iwamura gets back.

I sense Upton to 3rd, Cantu to 2nd.

^ Nah, doubt it. They haven't moved Upton away from second at any point yet, even for people like Wigginton and Harris that can play it fairly well. So I doubt it happens for someone that's even worse at it. Besides, he's getting the hang of it.

We saw Wiggy at 3rd & Pena at 1st tonight with Cantu riding the pine.

Good. I like that. For I want to see tons more Gomes. For all the K's and lack of contact, he slugs .500, and he gets on base. He should take every at bat Carlos Pena gets (I accept that defense factors, but I'm sure they can blag that).

Glad I was wrong.....but Upton is headed for 40 errors at 2nd .

We keep trying to find a position for Upton, has anyone considered DH?

I'm all for keeping him at second. A lot of the errors so far have been positional sense type things that seem to stem from a lack of experience there. That comes around im time. His throwing is a lot better at second than at third or short, and it's also a bloody hard position to fill. So I'd keep him there.
