The Nationals are pursuing a trade for troubled Devil Rays outfielder Elijah Dukes, major-league sources tell FOXSports.com.
No deal is imminent, and other clubs remain interested in Dukes, one source says.
The Nationals, however, represent a logical fit.
Dukes, 22, could replace the Nats' center-field platoon of Nook Logan and Ryan Langerhans.
And Jim Bowden, the team's general manager, has a history of extending opportunities to players with checkered pasts.
Nationals first baseman Dmitri Young, released by the Tigers last September following legal and substance-abuse problems, currently is batting .342, second in the National League.
Dukes would be a greater risk.

They can have him, for the right price.
What that would constitute, I don't know.

What is Dukes worth?
He's got a long ways to go at the plate and in center.
It's all or nothing with Dukes.....

I'd do Chad Cordero.

He really does look crap in the outfield. I'm leaning towards wanting Upton as a full time CF. I base this off the fact that I heard that Akinori Iwamura can play second base, so he slides in there and Longoria still has his spot at third.

He's lazy in center and his arm has been totally innacurate. Centerfield is perfect for Upton, his arm is going to waste at 2B. I want Aki to stay at 3B, he's awesome there. Longoria is best suited for second base, I think.

Upton is intriguing in CF. Arm, speed....great combination.....and he is really impressing me with his play at 2B.
Once he got past the silly errors...he's been pretty damn good.

Well if he can, he should. I just didn't know he could.
