Rays want new waterfront ballpark

The Rays are planning to approach local officials with plans on building a $450 million open air stadium, located on the downtown St Pete waterfront.

The plans would have a canopy that would protect fans from the elements.

A retractable roof is out of the question.

The Rays would provide $150 million towards costs.

I guess we can all figure out what they've been doing with all the missing payroll revenue that's been coming in.

I would like to see this happen. The current stadium is a bit ugly, and hides the beauty of the Florida sun.

A bit ugly? LOL

The "sun" is part of the problem........

It can work though, as really the only "miserable" month is August.

April, May, and June are still decent in the evenings with little chance of evening rain.

July gets hotter at night, but is not intolerable. The month of August and the beginning of September is another matter.

I would love to see the Rays get a new stadium. Tropicana is just not a good park to play baseball.
If I were the Rays I would look into moving the team to Orlando. The Magic are very successful there.

I live in Orlando and would LOVE to see that.
