Pena is locked up until 2010 & Kazmir re-ups for 1 more year.

Glad to see Pena locked up. Now, it's up to him to earn it.

He could be a great bargain though, if last year was not a fluke.

I was worried about Kazmir. This was a bargain, and probably the last one he gives too.

I can't imagine how many times Kazmir is going to come up in trade rumors this upcoming season. Hopefully our staff can be successful so upper management doesn't look to move him for prospects.

The scary thing is if Kazmir pitches as well as he did most of last year, and gets better support , his value and potential cost will skyrocket.

Then, what do the fiscally conscious Rays do? And what if the Rays are winning to boot?

Could be tough PR days ahead come July.

We'll ownership is spending (i.e. Pena), & now they are looking to ink Shields to a 7 year extension :o

If Kazmir, Shields & Garza give us the 1-2-3 punch Maddon & Co. are hoping for then I don't see why management wouldn't break the bank to keep Kaz?

Unbelievable.

We'll see what happen.

The fingers will stay crossed.

PS- It's all kind of funny, you know, about the iffy barrage of resigning that may happen. For almost everyone else, this is routine.

What he has described as "discomfort," our ace Scott Kazmir is set to have an MRI on his throwing elbow.

Everyone hold their breath

It can't be serious, because he would've been in extreme pain.
It's gotta just be something slight and fleeting. Don't worry.

I always worry.

I think he's OK though.

Kazmir got his MRI. Diagnosed as structurally AOK.

Will rest the elbow for a period of time.

Kazmir to start season on DL

Scott Kazmir probably begins the season on the DL.

I am concerned, despite the assurances from Maddon and others that all is AOK.

I think it's a wise move. If he's experiencing strain & fatigue now I can't imagine what his arm will feel like towards seasons end?

I just hope this isn't going to be a season long problem.

Rest up Scotty.

I guess it is needed, and Shields is the only other choice for this. Doesn't it seem like Kazmir's arm is hanging by a thread?
