David Price- awesome debut against Yanks

Post#1 » by craig01 » Wed Feb 20, 2008 8:27 pm

David Price just may get a shot in the show sooner than we think.

Thus far, Price has impressed at least one teammate: Scott Kazmir.

"He's got electric stuff," Kazmir said.

But the Rays' ace left-hander had some advice for Price after playing catch with him on the first day of camp.

"He's got a little bit of run on the ball," Kazmir said. "He caught me on the palm a couple of times, and I'm like, 'Ease off, it's Day 1.'"

Davis Price made his debut a worthwhile one against the Yankees on saturday.

one inning, no hits, no runs, 1 hbp, and 3 K's.

He hit 97, 98, 99 mph and 9 of his last 12 pitches were thrown for strikes.

The Rays are fortunate to have his rights.

I say we take it nice & slow with Price, as we have Kazmir, Shields & Garza as our 1-2-3. I'm sure we can fill our 4 & 5 slots without having to call anyone up.
