Thanks, I plan on doing it for every series. If we do series threads, I can make more nice ones. (And less work

)

Unfortunately, I am going to miss the game.

The only matchup I'm concerned about is Game 3, Sonnastine vs. Cabrera. My only hope is that the Orioles are as terrible as everyone is predicting they will be, although I always root for Aubrey Huff (one of my favs).
Should go: 3-0
Will likely go: 2-1

Rays win opener 6-2.
Shields struggled with control, and Crawford didn't make 2 plays on fly balls in the first inning, setting up both of their runs.
After the 1st inning, Shields was efficient and precise.
His line: 7 5 2 2 3 2.
Reyes pitched most of the 8th, and Wheeler closed out the 9th.
Bartlett and Aki made some really nice turns with contact at 2B.
The middle INF defense is going to be a strength.
Nice start.

As I said, I missed the game but from what I can see (box score) we cleaned up nicely. Nice to see the offense clicking already.
1-0.

What about Eric Hinske? Going yard! Could this be another Carlos Pena pickup for Maddon & Co.?

Or another Wiggington.
LOL.
We'll have to see how well he plays in RF, as Gomes and Floyd can bring a lot of adventure to the position.

Semi-unrelated note: If it's Jackson on Friday, Hammel on Saturday, is it going to be Sheilds on Sunday or is Kazmir going to be ready?

I heard on the Rays postgame show, that Kazmir may first pitch a couple of times in either or both A, AA.
Sounds like Kazmir may not make his debut until late April.
Hope it's sooner.

I'd like to see him pitch sooner, but I have no problem with him taking his time. I'd hate to see him go out on 57 pitches like Pedro did to the Mets last night.

So after the 3 runs in the first, Garza gives up the leadoff HR to Roberts.

Reyes lost the game tonight.
He had no command, and his fastball was consistently around 86 mph.
Hopefully this isn't the Reyes of the last third of last year.
Rays lose 9-6.
Garza was OK, made a couple of big mistakes, but clearly has a Jack Morris bulldog approach about him. He's gonna be good.
BTW- I didn't trust Reyes last year either, but he was flawless until the AS break last year.

Game 3 rained out.
