I don't get it.

What is so hard about sprinting to 1st base four times a game?

This is the second time that Upton has been called out by Maddon, but is probably the 20th time he's pulled this stunt. It took him 5.3 seconds on a double play ball.

His excuse was "I thought there were two outs". Pathetic.

He's says he's going to hustle now because he doesn't want to be singled out again.

Wrong answer. How about saying "I'm going to play as hard as I can all of the time, because it will help the team, and also because it's the best I can do?".

Serious character flaw.

Obviously, his youth coaching mentors were enabling his lazy and selfish attitude.

Upton doesn't get it.

So, Upton hits a ball to the wall and decides to half ass it to 2nd base. VG chases the ball down and throws to MT, who then tags Upton out from behind before he gets to 2nd base.

Lesson learned?

Nah, he's just a lazy but talented player.

This is disheartening. Its one thing to get called out on a bang bang play but to pull a Manny and take ur decent time, there is no excuse for that, ever. The easiest way to have fans turn against you is being lazy.
