Only the Rangers

Post#1 » by Jasen777 » Mon Sep 24, 2007 9:05 pm

I suppose other teams have accomplished feats that equal turning A-Rod into Wifferson. Paying the richest team in baseball 67 million dollars to take an MVP off your hands is unmatched. But what is really insane is that they will be paying A-Rod in 2025, 21 years after he last played for the team! :banghead:

Rodriguez signed his $252 million, 10-year contract with Texas before the 2001 season, then was traded to the Yankees in 2004. As part of the trade, the Rangers owe the Yankees $8,116,000 next year, $7,101,500 in 2009 and $6,087,000 in 2010 -- a total of $21,304,500.

Of the $27 million A-Rod is owed each year, $3 million is deferred annually at 2 percent interest and paid from 2016-25. At the time of the trade, the Rangers agreed to be responsible for those payments.

That is the cost of signing a bad deal, and out bidding yourself by $75 mm. Stupid Contract, bad trade for what? Brad Wilkerson.

Fox is saying A-Rod will opt out, does this get the Rangers off the hook?

Terminating the contract saved the Texas Rangers $21.3 million they owed the Yankees over the next three years, payments agreed to at the time of the 2004 trade.

i hope you're not being serious, the angels arent going to shell out 45 million for bonds and arod but that would form the most devastating 3-4-5 people have seen in quite some time.

No, I'm not really being serious. I did hear thought that Bonds was available for pretty cheap though, and he does need to go to the AL...

I don't think the Angels are going to be willing to sign A-Rod.
