Kerry Wood

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Fri Nov 9, 2007 6:21 pm

Briefly: Among the free agents the Rangers have contacted to express interest in further conversations is RHP Kerry Wood, an Irving native and Grand Prairie graduate. Wood, 30, was 1-1 with a 3.33 ERA in 22 appearances for the Chicago Cubs last year after recovering from shoulder problems. The Rangers would consider him as an addition for the bullpen. ... In response to the death of minor league coach Mike Coolbaugh, who was hit in the head by a line drive, GMs recommended that base coaches where protective headgear starting next season. The type of protection is still to be determined. ... New third-base coach Matt Walbeck, who managed Detroit's Double-A club in 2007, has been named Minor League Manager of the Year by Baseball America.

depends on the price, but is worth the risk. Low pay, highly incentivized.

Kerry's a fan favorite, so I doubt Chicago let's go him.

Given all the salary that the cubs are paying, they will not overpay a hurt and disappointing wood.
