Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla has been named the club's 2008 Pitcher of the Year in voting by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

In addition, manager Ron Washington was voted the 2008 winner of the Harold McKinney Good Guy Award, and outfielder David Murphy was selected to the Topps All-Rookie Team.

Padilla was 14-8 with a 4.74 ERA in 29 starts for the Rangers. Padilla led Texas in wins, innings (171), strikeouts (127) and ERA.

Washington finished his second season as the Rangers' manager with a record of 79-83. He is the first skipper to win the Harold McKinney Award.

Murphy hit .275 for the Rangers with 15 home runs and 74 RBIs. He scored 64 runs, knocked 28 doubles and had a .465 slugging percentage in 108 games and 415 at-bats before his season came to an end Aug. 7, when he went on the disabled list with a sprained right knee.

He is the first Rangers player to be named to the All-Rookie Team since Mark Teixeira in 2003, and the first outfielder since Cecil Espy in 1988. He is the 12th Ranger to join the team in the 50 years Topps has been selecting an All-Rookie Team.

Washington and Padilla will be honored at the annual Sluggers of the West Awards Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Eddie Deen's Ranch in Dallas
