Looks like another pitching collapse as usual. Let me go start planning my errands for the afternoon

People on this board will crucify me for saying this- I just had a conversation with someone before the game how Kirk's value is at an all-time high. He is under control for 4 more years. He without question can bring back a Legitmate Number 1 Pitcher back in a deal, or two extremely talented Star Bullpen arms. The return he will bring should be impressive in any deal.

With Jansen coming back soon, and Moreno showing he is MLB ready, we eventually have to deal one of our Catchers. I mentioned previously how this team should only look at trading Jansen. However, the more I think about it, Kirk's value is at an all-time high and would bring a greater return than Jansen. Shapiro/Atkins should explore what return he can potentially bring right now to significantly address our Pitching needs.

Was that three times we had the bases loaded with one out, and couldn't cash anything in?

Yikes. Just yikes. We need to do better.

Trade Kirk if you forgot how Jansen hitting .200 for a whole season feels like

I'm fine with trading Kirk for an elite arm. He's amazing, but we don't need him right now, or for the foreseeable future. This team needs pitching if they want to contend.

Pitching sucked but how many men were left on base today?

This team is too good to be mediocre at this point. I think it's time we fired the manager and replaced the coaching staff.

What if we hadn't traded for Berrios last season and now we make a Kirk for Berrios trade while Berrios is still performing at his career standard of top of the rotation SP - then the 2022 BJ's Berrios show up and get lit like a pinball.

The point I'm making is that starting pitching has much higher variance in performance than a 2-way positional player. We are near the peak of the competitive cycle - where we want to minimize variance of performance and even small incremental improvements can have big impact on wins.

If anyone bet on the outcome of this 5 game series, I think none would have chosen wins with Kikuchi and Berrios and losses with Gausman and the rest.

But that is on bad luck (with Gausman), somewhat mediocre hitting in the last 3 games and an absolute foolish decision for who gets to start game 4.

How anyone can look at Hatch's #s in triple A and choose him over Castillo is beyond me. I keep repeating it because I still can't believe it.
