Perhaps trading Castillo is going to come back to bite them much more quickly than anticipated. Say bye bye to spot starting depth.

Tbh I don’t think the pitching is that bad. Gausman/Manoah are legit ace level pitchers, Berrios is getting back to form to a legit #2 level pitcher, and Stripling had been doing great. Kikuchi sucks but he’s slowly getting better. He didn’t get rocked today. I’m confident about the starting pitching, just not the BP. Only Romano/Cimber/Garcia are reliable arms, Phelps and Mayza is ok, everyone else especially Thornton and Richards suck

If Whitt Merrifield does not get vaccinated, the deal would have been a bad one. Schneider today made it sound like it was Whitt's decision alone in consultation with his family, and the team would not force him to get the vaccine. Cannot believe the Jays did not get a clear commitment from Whitt before acquiring him.

This. Why would you even consider trading for him in the first place knowing he isn't even vaccinated? It just boggles my mind! What a an awful trade. This might go down as one of the dumbest of all time!

This trade alone should get Atkins fired at end of this season.

Guys, he's going to get vaccinated. He's either gotten the shot in the last day or he will be within the next day or so. He'll say he talked to his doctor and his family and prayed and blah blah blah and he will be playing in Toronto in 2 weeks or whatever.

Hopefully that is the case. If not, I would have just kept Castillo, and this would be utter incompetence on the part of Shapiro/Atkins to not get that vaccine commitment before making the deal. Schneider's comments today threw me off guard. Hopefully it is just posturing on the part of Schneider.

It is. They just don't want it to be another national story or there to be KC rabble rousing about "Oh he wouldn't get vaccinated for US, but will for THEM" or whatever.

It will be nice if Vladdy could, you know, hit a Homer or something one of these days..
