Its ludacris to say Lincecum is RIGHT NOW better then Halladay. The guy had a ERA of 4 in the national league and furthermore in a division that cant hit for crap. Put him in the american league and in the AL East and he would have been lucky to have had a ERA of under 4.50. Hallday would dominate the National league and especially if he was in a division with teams like LA, Arizona and San Diego who cant hit for beans (just look at Brad Penny).

Lincecum wasnt better then Hallday last season, so to say he would instantly be our best pitcher is very baseless unless you have a crystal ball and can see into the future where it shows that next year Lincecum pitches better then Doc and im guessing you dont.

Although its a message board and there are more important things in life.....but i have to say its mind boggling how you can continue to spell Roy Halladay wrong.

In Halladay's WORST non-2000 season, his ERA+ was 115 (2004), and he was injured that year. Linecum's ERA+ last season was 111.

In other words, no, Lincecum is not better than Halladay. In the future? Time will tell, but it's not even close right now. Halladay is an elite starter, whose ERA+ was hovering around 150 for a few years and peaked at 184. He dipped a bit in 2007, but he's still one of the best in the game. Lincecum, while good, has a long way to go to reach that level.

As for trading for Lincecum so quickly, I doubt even Sabean is that stupid, unless he knows something that no one else knows about Lincecum's arm/health.

Well...he does hold the dubious honor of completing this masterpiece:

Francisco Liriano, Boof Bonser and Joe Nathan for A.J. Pierzynski.

...unless he could have predicted that Liriano was going to blow out his elbow.

Still doesn't matter. Take liriano out and that deal is still one of the biggest steals ever.
