I know not all agree but I'm a believer in lineup depth. We had an offensive contender and we traded it for defence. Vlad and Bo were way better when they were surrounded by guys that could hit. In 2021 we had 7 guys hit more than 20 HRs (4 that hit 30). This also falls on Shatkins.

They went from a murderous row lineup that pitchers were legitimately scared to pitch to - atleast top 5:

Springer
Semien
Bo
vlad
Teoscar
Lourdes
Randal (Our worst hitter by Ops)
Danny Jansen/Kirk
Biaggio/Espinal

To maybe 1 hitter your scared to pitch to?

Yes that above team wasn't great defending, but they over-corrected went to far into the defensive runs saved

All in the name of defense and professionalism
