Re: Toronto Blue Jays @ St. Louis Cardinals
I'm still not sure why the need to take Bassitt out after 89 pitches... you are up 4 runs and he had been sharp for 3 innings
You try to see if he can get 1,2, or 3 outs before allowing a guy to get on base (or if he gets deep into a count and reaches a 100)... then you make the move to Fluharty. Getting it down to 4 or 5 outs instead of 6, makes it a little easier to get home with less arms.

Re: Toronto Blue Jays @ St. Louis Cardinals
We should have at least let Bassitt in to hit 100 before pulling him, just so we can save the BP as much as possible. We have a razor thin rotation, we need as many arms as possible.

Outfielder Will Robertson set to join Blue Jays in St. Louis - Sportsnet.ca

ST. LOUIS — Will Robertson, a 27-year-old outfielder with a .991 OPS at triple-A, will be on hand at Busch Stadium for the Toronto Blue Jays' series finale against the Cardinals Wednesday, an industry source told Sportsnet.
It’s unclear whether Robertson will join the active roster or simply be available on the taxi squad, but it’s worth noting that neck discomfort forced outfielder Nathan Lukes out of the starting lineup Tuesday, so Robertson’s presence could be linked to the status of Lukes.
Either way, the Blue Jays are flying in a player with plenty of power from the left side and the ability to play all three outfield positions. In 51 games for the Buffalo Bisons this year, Robertson's hitting .288 with a .410 on-base percentage and 12 home runs.
Speaking on Monday when Robertson was still in triple-A, Blue Jays manager John Schneider indicated that the 2019 fourth-round pick had gotten the attention of the MLB staff.
“Things happen at different times in guys’ careers,” Schneider said. “I think that he's figured out some ways to help him move a little bit more efficiently … he's been impressive (in the minors), and impressive when he comes over to (big-league) spring training games. Whenever you're doing what he’s doing, it's not going unnoticed here.”
While Robertson has played some left and centre this year, he’s primarily played right field. Schneider said he can handle centre if needed, but the Blue Jays appear more comfortable with him in a corner at this stage.
Adding Robertson to the big-league roster would require selecting his contract to the 40-man roster, but the team has two open spots now so no corresponding 40-man move would be required.

Chad Green is struggling. Hoffman allowed another run. Man, we really need to shore up the setup and closer roles. I don't feel confident in any of these pitchers closing out games.

Bassitt should have at a minimum started the 8th Inning, with Fluharty ready to come in eventually. Maybe Bassitt could have had a clean inning, and then you bring in Fluharty in the 9th.
Regardless, Schneider's stupidity of pulling Fluharty for Green has meant that you are using your Closer for the 4th time in 5 days. No other Manager in MLB would have pulled your better relievers in Fluharty, with a guy like Green who has looked terrible all year.

Need Garcia and Sandlin back asap. I’m surprised it’s taking so long for them, I thought it was minor stuff they were dealing with

Do we know who's getting sent back down? Good lord, we have so many AAAA outfielders right now.

We should be trading two of Schneider, Loperfido, Clase and Roden (along with one or two other lower tier prospects) to a rebuilding team and acquire another legitimate 4/5 Starter.

Two of those guys isn't going to get you a legitimate MLB starter of any type.

I don’t think the nerds upstairs told him to pull Fluharty for a guy with a 6 FIP
I'm inclined to believe former pro's who have told me moves like that come form upstairs. The Kevin Youkillis tweet is also right there for you.

we're not allowed to question the analytics department here. They get all the credit when things go right and the manager takes the fall for their blunders cause they can't ever be wrong.

retweet and like i said i've had two former pros tell me in person how involved analytic departments of pro teams are.

There's no way analytics would support pulling Fluharty in that situation. Not with Green pitching like trash for a while now. Schneider outsmarted himself.
he constantly does this for years now
