Springer with his best game as a Blue Jay!

Gimenez is playing better. The team seems to be gelling now.

Springer looking like 2019 George Springer. It has to be his best game ever as a Blue Jay. Great to win a decisive victory against the Yankees today, especially with the bad outcomes on Canada Day over the years. Happy Canada Day to everyone!

We had George dead and buried, a player who had aged out and still had an albatross contract which made him virtually untrade-able - now he's a real Lazarus story. I wonder how many teams the Jays tried to pawn him off to last winter, even retaining a lot of salary.

If we can get a 3-1 series win, we would only be 1 game back for the AL East leader. A 4-0 would be amazing too, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much. We got Berrios/Bassitt next, our two best SP, so we should be able to get at least 1

I was cursing the radio when Schneider made that call. I just can't comprehend the level of stupidity there. Was he trying to let the Yankees win this one?

So happy for Springer that he's finding success again. What a day for a big game.

They’ve effectively done the same thing two days in a row now (struggling Fluharty against the 2-4 hitters including a Judge IBB and then Bruihl today with a lead against the same spot in the order).

That sounds like it’s the kind of plan the front office has cooked up that might make sense on the pure numbers (although it’s difficult for me to see how, Bellinger has hit LHPs this year) but is devoid of common sense.

If Fisher (one of the team’s best RPs by any measure) is available to pitch, he should be used against the team’s best hitters. Not a guy with very little MLB pedigree.

My guess is logistically we are going to IBB Judge anyways, so having a LHP against Chisholm/Bellinger is a more ideal matchup. But that is not accounting the fact that Fisher is a better pitcher.

Ideally we should have had Yariel pitch there, then assuming we still score a ton later on, have the new pitcher come in for low leverage

I'm sure the RP plan changes this week with Garcia's return. The team needs one more mid-leverage reliever off the rental market.

Did anyone else notice last night that the sportsnet stat cast data for Gimenez’s HR (..that went right over the 400 sign on the CF fence ..) said it only travelled 396 feet?

This created so many questions about how those numbers are calculated… Does it mean that it shouldnt have left the park, but the wind carried it an extra 10-15 feet?

Even Springer’s first HR to left center over the high wall …that was several rows deep …said it only went 404.

So either the distance of the CF fence is BS, or something is off.

Also, all y’all really complaining about the BP after a 12-5 beat down? .. in the middle of this long stretch of consecutive games? Fluharty has great numbers against lefties. So if you are going to walk Judge, bringing him in for those hitters makes total sense. Fisher has 23 IP in the majors himself. So Its not like he has some long proven track record compared to Mason. .. who has handled lefties all season very well. Bellinger is hitting lefties, but Jazz isnt.

there was a bit of wind yesterday, maybe it doesn't take that into account...

Nice to have Yimi back. Fluharty sent to the minors. Hopefully he's able to figure out whatever he's been doing wrong up here. He was solid in May.

Fluharty was very good for nearly two months, before being terrible these past three weeks. His recent bad outings probably saved Chad Green from being DFA instead.

Also, looking at the lineup for tonight, not sure why Nathan Lukes is on the bench in favour of Davis Schneider. I would have expected Lukes to be in the lineup instead with a Right Handed Pitcher on the mound for New York.
