Chacin not 5th starter

The assumption this spring has been that Gustavo Chacin was a long shot to win a job in the Blue Jays' rotation. On Tuesday, Toronto manager John Gibbons said definitively that Chacin isn't considered a candidate at all.
"No, he hasn't been. We knew that," said Gibbons, following the Blue Jays' 6-1 loss to the Yankees at Legends Field.

His arm strength is down," Gibbons said about Chacin, who went 2-1 with a 5.60 ERA in five April starts before being sidelined last season. "He has to build his arm back up. He's not throwing really hard, but that's going to come with time. With what he's coming off of, it's going to take a while to build that."

Just read that. Hopefully he gets back to 100% just in case we need another starter if someone happened to go down with an injury.

Does anyone know if Chacin still be sent to the minors without having to pass through waivers?

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Yes Chacin still has options, so no waivers.

Well with the news on Janssen (crap, I really really like him), Litsch will stay and Chacin has a spot in the bullpen.

Chacin has already been sent down to AAA I would say that one o the Journeymen will take the last pitching spot Wells, Camp or Parrish, they look like middle relievers for us. Chacin will be back up by the All Star break I hope.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
