This is another reason why so many of us were in favour of a Rios for Lincecum a couple of months back. Right now, our starting pitching depth is extremely thin and finding another arm will be quite expensive whereas Lind/Stairs/free-agent X or trading for another RF would be a much easier option.

Now that the free-agent market dried up on him, any chance that Kyle Loshe might sign a 1 year contract with us? Or do we not have $6-8 million in the budget for that? Or does he want to stay in the NL where it will be easier to pad his stats for next year?

I could see Lohse signing a one year deal to vault him to a big payday next off-season, but it certainly wouldn't be in the AL East. He would get rocked, and I suspect that we could find a marginal prospect in our system to do just as badly, but for a fraction of the price.

JEFF WEAVER

because

Weaver + Rolen + Eckstein = 3/25ths of the 2006 Champions

We could also sign Scott Spiezio and Sidney Ponson pretty cheaply...that's, like, 20% of a championship team.

This hurts quite a bit. Having Litsch and Chacin in AAA as the 6th and 7th starters would have been a luxury. Now bumping Litsch up to the 5th spot, and Chacin (who still hasn't recovered from injury) to the primary emergency starter spot is a massive downgrade. If one of the other four starters get hurt, it's going to get ugly in a hurry.

I heard that JP is looking at the trade market, but I don't know what he could get. With Snider emerging quicker than expected, I wouldn't be surprised if Lind is traded for a starter. Though with Toronto's lack of cost effective talent, I'd prefer holding on to Lind. Maybe try to get Dave Bush back, who the Brewers may be willing to sell low on.

As said on the previous page....this is why Rios for Lincecum made a lot of sense...

I wouldn't mind a Dave Bush coming in...I've always liked his skillset minus the attitude although not sure if he and Gibbons would get along well.

The rotation with Litsch isn't bad but we need backup support, especially with the fragility of this rotation.
