The line on Jays? Don't bet on a playoff berth

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Fri Mar 27, 2009 12:15 am

If money does indeed talk, it says 2009 is going to be a lousy season for the Toronto Blue Jays.

That's the word both from the betting line in Las Vegas and the response so far by those willing to put their money where their opinion is.

The opening line on the Blue Jays' under/over win total was 79 1/2. In the days since that total was posted, it has been bet downward. Some Internet betting sites have the number down to 78 1/2 – plus you need to lay a whopping $125 to win $100.

At some point, either under current ownership or the next proprietor, interim president Paul Beeston will find a permanent president who will at some point find J.P. Ricciardi's replacement, allowing the process of team-building to begin all over again.

But here's what likely won't change, no matter who's in charge: the depth of the water in the AL East.

This season will be a complete disaster. Look for one more season of the best pitcher in Blue Jay history. And hopefully Snyder looks legit.
