In the eighth inning of a disappointing 8-2 loss to the Red Sox yesterday, second baseman Aaron Hill grounded out to end his personal hitting streak at a career-high 13 games.
The Blue Jays' young star might have cared more about the personal setback in the past. But, 12 months and two days following his season-ending concussion, Hill has things in much better perspective.
"I can remember losing it in the past and just getting so frustrated at not being able to do something," Hill said in the quiet of an empty clubhouse. "You look back and it's a game of failure. Obviously, you go up there and put yourself in the best position. If you ask me when I'm oh-for-50 it might be a different answer, but yeah, there's a different perspective there."
