Jays to decide on Wednesday if ace can make next start

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Wed Jun 17, 2009 1:05 am

Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay played catch on flat ground without any problems prior to Tuesday's game against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Halladay suffered a mild right groin strain on Friday and still is considered day-to-day.

On Wednesday, Halladay will pitch off a mound in his first bullpen session since being removed in the fourth inning of his previous outing due to the injury. After that test, Toronto will determine whether Halladay will be able to take the mound on Saturday for a start against the Nationals.

"He feels a bit better," Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston said on Tuesday. "He's going to throw a little bit tomorrow and see how it goes. Then we should know more tomorrow after he does that."
