Hill, Halladay All-Stars: vote for Lind, dammit!

Post#1 » by Schad » Sun Jul 5, 2009 8:16 pm

The official rosters have been announced...and while Hill and Halladay made it, Lind did not. However, he's one of the finalists for the last spot, which is determined through an internet vote. Let the ballot box stuffing begin!

I don't vote for ASGs. I don't think it's right that they're used to determine things like HoF candidacy, despite the facts that the fans are generally (Please Use More Appropriate Word) when it comes to picking the best players.

I voted for Adam the maximum allowable times with one email account, this guy deserves it.

Lind deserves it more than those others, so I'll do it.

i agree with you.. but since they're giving me the power to help a fellow Jay get into the ASG, that's not going to stop me from taking a couple of minutes to just hit the Vote button...

Used two different emails to vote for Lind. He has the best numbers on our team and deserves to make it.

Its too bad it came down to this. He should have been selected ahead of Zobrist, as his numbers are better straight across the board. I think the only rationale would be that its in an NL park, and Zobrist is a multi positional player; whereas Lind is a siv in the field

Yeah the time isn't the issue for me though. By voting I endorse the process, and I don't want to do that.

I saw an interview with Maddon during the Sunday night game, and he said that this versatility was the deciding factor. Still, part of me thinks that Lind being a Jay has hurt his cause as well.

Let me start by saying I spent the last 20min on my lunch voting and voting for Lind. It's just so easy and you only have to type in those 5 digit codes.

But should we be voting in our players to the ASG? We've all learned it's all a "business" now. When a player prices himself out of your market, you're told it's a business. As fans, you have no choice but to accept it.

Well, forget Halladay. He's a perennial all-star. Hill. One of the best 2nd basement in a game full of great 2nd basemen. Gotta give respect.

Lind. He's a good player. Been a key piece to our team this year. Also a nice guy. But if he gets into the ASG, he forever becomes the all-star, Adam Lind. When it's contract time, he'll want and get more because he was an all-star. Another team will offer a big contract because they can sell him to their fans as a one-time all-star.

If Lind doesn't crack the all-star lineup, he's still going to produce the same numbers for us. If he plays the same way year over year, it would be better for us, as fans, if he's not an all-star.

Mind you, if you has an even better year next year, then he reaches the level of Hill and makes the ASG and we can be happy for him.

But now...right now, we have a choice as fans. Do we really want him to be an all-star? It makes watching the ASG more fun, but it could hurt us down the line. And as we now know....it's all a business.

Am I the only one who thinks this way?

Let's do it Jays nation.

Although Kinsler is well deserving, our boy Lind is not going down.

I'm really happy for Aaron and DOC, this 2 are ultimate professionals and deserve this to the extreme.

LETS GO LIND!

I know exactly what you mean. But it's business and it's every player dream to make the ASG. As fans we want our team to be represented to the fullest.

We don't really have a say in what happens in the near future with Lind and the Jays brass but let's hope he sticks but I do know one thing we do have a say in and that's votiing for our boy Lind.

^^
Maybe I'm just getting oldr. When I was a kid, it was all about the sport and your team. But it's ALL business now. Even you M_T said we should listen to offers for our boy Roy Halladay. When I was a kid, that would have been unthinkable.

But now even fans are thinking like GM's. Win now or rebuild attitudes. You watch, 10 years from now it'll get worse. 20 years, teams will get fans if they're winning, but stadiums will be empty when they're losing.

Fan voting is good to keep fans like us involved, but it snubs players that busted there ass all year for their team and have great stats to get rewarded by going to an all-star game. But since they're not as popular yet they get snubbed.

On the side note....LIND ALL THE WAY!!!
