As usual, we've underperformed (to date) compared to our projected wins. I think the hot start needed to even out, because this isn't yet a really good team. Maybe the second half will include another little hot streak?

I'm actually kinda happy that we stopped on that streak because we knew we were still a mediocre team and JP would start overrating them in deals and not get anything.

That's a rather conventional Blue Jay-fan way of looking at it, I guess. A decade and a half running, I think we're all a little adjusted to not accomplishing anything in the season. I'm curious why it is that we have been consistently underperforming the Pythagorean projection for our team, though, since even the Raptors are usually pretty close to that.

Still, maybe it's time to step away from the bitterness of missing the playoffs for 60% of my life and be positive: promising young pitching talent, a healthy Aaron Hill, Doc hasn't been traded yet... I do like Rzepczynski, Cecil and Romero, those three are definitely on my watch list.

Wait a second...

Does anyone else see this? Maybe someone's said it before...

Toronto has become a team for whom the following adage is semi-applicable: "Tomorrow I'll Be Perfect."

We're the freaking Dave Stieb of the AL East!! Almost, but not quite!

Porcello with the totally-awesome aikido takedown of Youk, lol.

Anyone else excited a little about Pedro's start tonight for Philly?

Yeah, Rios in Chicago should be interesting, especially against King Felix. I'm excited that Pedro's pitching, it was a sad day for me when Maddux retired, I was thrilled to see Smoltz pitching this year even though he was horrible (and I'm rooting for him to come back with someone else) and, yes, even when Clemens finally called it a career (to a much, much lesser extent, of course).

Rios went 1-6 with 2 strikeouts before Griffey put up an RBI single in the 14th to get the win. Before anyone harps, only he and the #8 and 9 hitters got more than one hit for the White Sox. Felix Hernandez struck out 10 in 7 innings and the last 3 of the 4 relievers the Mariners used got another 6 strikeouts. Seattle pitching was insane.

Wow the Red Sox aren't even #1 in the wild card?
That would suck for Doc and the Jays if the Rangers ended up making the playoffs. We could've had a pretty good bunch of prospects from them, and Doc could have finally made the playoffs.

That should be interesting. I'd anticipate the Mets pulling him off waivers, but that'd be nasty.
