Yes, but in his case the latter is far more likely; because he missed all of last season, Type-A status (which is based on two-year running totals) is basically impossible.

I thought there was some allowance in the calculations for injuries, but I may be off.

I can see both sides on this.

That's a lot of money per season but because it's only a 1 year contract, I think it's a pretty low risk, high reward move by the A's. Sheets has been a very good pitcher when healthy. And if he had been healthy the going rate for a pitcher like him would probably be closer to $12 million a season for 3-4 years.

And as I've been arguing about Damon, Delgado and others, if you sign one of these guys to a 1 year contract, assuming they stay healthy they immediately become very easy to move to a contender for prospects during the season.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Just read this:

In addition, New York also brought back Mookie Wilson as their minor league outfield and base running coordinator.

Loved Mookie on the Jays back in the day. Seeing him fly around the bases was a thing of beauty.

Tigers have signed Damon to a 1 year, and 8 million.
