The Toronto Blue Jays have added another arm to the organization, yesterday claiming right-handed pitcher Casey Fien off waivers from the Boston Red Sox.
Fien, 26, had been recently claimed off waivers from the Detroit Tigers, with whom he posted an 0-1 record with a 7.94 earned-run-average in 111/3 innings last year. He spent most of 2009 at Triple-A Toledo, where his numbers weren't bad - 3.41 ERA in 42 relief appearances, 66 strikeouts in 58 innings.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Fien, the Blue Jays placed pitcher Scott Richmond (shoulder) on the 60-day DL.
