Before this season began, Stewart was ranked ahead of Drabek on some sites. I wouldnt say that is "average". He is potentially a B+ prospect.

Yeah, Sickels had him at B+...he could be lower now, but he has already proven to have the stuff to be a good closer if he flunks this test. Cecil is certainly a damned good looking prospect, and Alvarez is going to find himself in someone's mid-season top-25 if he keeps this up.

It was only Sickels that had Stewart over Drabek. If he flops as a starter, you just turn Stewart back into a top closer prospect.

Cecil? Save for his 8 ER shelling he has looked great this year.

Alvarez isn't a top prospect...yet. If he adds an above-average curveball he will be deadly. Throws hard, doesn't walk anyone, groundball pitcher, never gives up home runs...if he starts striking guys out then watch out.

Oswalt would have been a great pick up when we still had Halladay but this is a rebuilding year and we are loaded with good young pitchers so it really doesn't make sense to add salary and age while disrupting one of the better young staffs in baseball. I would rather keep this year as an experimental season and by late August/September, no matter what our record, I would much rather be going with a rotation of Marcum, Romero, Cecil, Litch, with Rep, Drabek, and Morrow getting looks. If we fall off we can be a little more patient and even if we are still sticking around it will be valuable experience for an unexperienced staff.
