Roughned Odor sounds like a name from Anchorman

Is a short-hop that gets by him an Odor Eater? When the first baseman holds him on, is it Odor Control? Is a pitcher who has great success against him a Deodorizer?

If we can get this guy, spare no cost. I don't care if he's 16, I want this guy signed for $5m and promoted immediately to the bigs for my enjoyment. Think of the jersey sales, Rogers!

When Odor goes deep into the hole, might we suggest antibiotics?

Either antibiotics or something died up there...or as Barney Gumble would put it..."It didn't die"

The Jays are going about it the right way, target international free agents to add to your already growing farm system. In one half year it appears Anthopolous is assembling a blossoming farm system...to which we haven't seen since the days of Gord Ash :shudders:

Apparently BA's new July 2nd article claims that not only are we still likely to get Carmona; we may also be the co-frontrunners (with Pitt) for Mexican RHP Luis Heredia.

Any scouting report on the 15(!) year old? All I can find is that he's 6'4"(!).

I fail to see what exactly this has to do with anything. Lincecum? Pedro? If you want a closer, how about Billy Wagner (all 5'10 and 180lbs of him)?

Farquhar throws 93-96mph as a sidewinder. His velocity relative to his arm slot is ridiculous. When he throws strikes he is almost un-hittable. What exactly does that sound like? Its about stuff, not how freaking "big" you are. Farquhar doesn't even suffer from lack of downward movement (taller pitchers usually have an advantage here because of the more downward throwing motion created by their height) because his arm angle creates a ton of sink.

forgive his ignorance for he thinks that size matters.

Soon enough AA's henchmen will be scouting prospects right outta the womb. Maybe even before that, hiring scientists to find elite baseball genetics from parents yet to conceive future HOF'ers.

BA:

One of the top lefthanders on the market is Angel Mejias, who trains with Ciro Barrios in Venezuela. Mejias represented Venezuela in Taiwan in August at the World Youth Championships and got knocked around, though both of his starts were against Cuba. Mejias' quick arm helps him pump fastballs in the high 80s, and he should be able to sit in the low 90s in time. Some scouts have said they have had a difficult time seeing Mejias, who has been connected to the Blue Jays and the Reds.

BA:

The top three July 2 prospects this year out Venezuela seem to have cemented their status with a little more than a week to go until the international signing period begins.

Righthander Adonis Cardona appears ticketed to the Blue Jays for a bonus of around $2.8 million, while third baseman Renato Nunez has been connected to Oakland for a seven-figure bonus. The third player, shortstop Rougned Odor, was in Tampa this weekend at the Perfect Game National Showcase inside the Rays' home stadium.

Odor, 16, had a solid showing at the event playing against some of the top 17-year-olds eligible for next year's daft. Odor showed a fundamentally sound swing, a good approach at the plate with the ability to work the count. He played solid defense, though some scouts believe he will end up moving to second base. The Yankees and Blue Jays figure to be among the top-spending teams in the international market this year, and both have been connected to Odor.

Hopefully not...we have plenty of guys who can eventually close, but only if they fail as starters. No point getting 70 innings out of a guy if he can throw 200.
