Anyone in the D-Backs system that they Jays could potentially steal?

Sorry, but acquiring two A-ball pitchers with potential doesn't make this any less one-sided. This is Dan Haren, a legitimate ace (5-6 WAR) with an affordable contract we're talking about.

I have no idea what the Yankees were offering (if it was less than this, it would have been just as terrible), but I find it very hard to believe that this was the best package Arizona could have gotten for one of the better pitchers in baseball. And if it was the best, they shouldn't have been trading him anyway.

listen to this clown try to justify this horrendous deal, on Saunders, "he's won the most games in the AL aside from halladay". Yeah lets look at Win **** Loss records when you're trading your ACE, a legitimate cheap and controllable ACE. Alex should have and could have offered a better deal than this, we could let him build up his value and trade him at the next trade deadline. I'll be disappointed if Alex never even inquired about him, every owner in Baseball should be asking their GM why they didn't put up a better offer for Danny Haren

yeah, they have a pretty promising draft class from last year filled with quite a few position players we could use. Their owner might not let the interim GM **** with the farm though but then again he was allowed to trade their Ace, so you never know.

I dont know why they were so persistent in trading Haren, but the reason I'm saying this isn't horrendous is because quite frankly I like this return a lot better than the return that Cliff Lee (a better pitcher who also had years remaining) brought back the first two times he got traded. Do I think they got enough? No; but at least they didn't target declining prospects or guys who had major question marks like the Indians and Phillies did. I think they did well to buy low on two pitchers who could very easily blow up ala John Lamb and Mike Montgomery in the Royals system this year. Its risky, but this time next year both of those kids could be B+ type prospects.

Classic salary dump that aspect seeming most important to the DBacks. Not saying this is as horrible as some claim but one should wonder whether they could have done better.

Either Stark is wrong, or the Royals are nuts. Soria's a terrific closer, but if you can turn a closer into one of the better hitting prospects in baseball, you do it.

that might not even be the worst decision of the trade deadline, why the **** is he going after Jeff Franceour? What is his obsession with ex braves scrubs and players who just aren't very good?
