Manny still on Jays radar

Post#1 » by mikero » Fri Jan 14, 2011 7:35 pm

At least five teams have shown interest in signing free agent Manny Ramirez, who has been working out in a performance training center in Arizona to get in shape not only from a hitting standpoint, but also to play the outfield if necessary.

The Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays have made inquiries to agent Scott Boras about Ramirez, a source close to the player told ESPNdeportes.com.

Ramirez, 38, hit .298 with nine home runs and 42 RBIs last season playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox. He was limited to 265 at-bats due to pain in his right knee and a hernia in his left thigh for which he had surgery in October.

Hell, for the right price/inventive based contract...why not?

It'll be entertaining watching and listening to his post game interviews at least.

I don't think AA cares about Manny anymore. But anything could happen I guess.

I think I'm kind of tired of hearing of all the players who are/were on the "Jays radar".

Seems like the Jays are called suitors for any player who's a FA or on the block and virtually none of them end up here.

I would be really surprised, Posada is under contract and can't play on the field anymore, the Yankees are pretty much set right now, they are looking for a 4th OF (like Thames last year) and Manny doesn't really fit IMO...

Tampa Bay is really the best fit...

good point. Highly unlikely they'd disrespect the switch-hitting Posada like that.

There's not much of an excuse not to sign one of the remaining DHs on the cheap, especially a guy like Manny who actually wants to play in Toronto.
One flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.
