He'd be too expensive and so I'd probably pass for now.

Yea seriously, Morrow is awesome and will only get better. #1 in K/9 last year with 10.95. Read that again. He put up one of the top 5 pitching performances in the last 100 years. He also had a crazy unlucky BABIP out of line with his career. He's gonna put up a sub-4.00 ERA and 200+ Ks. That is invaluable in the AL East. We'll have plenty of opportunities to develop an OF like Rasmus but not as much to develop guys like Morrow.

If you take our rotation and trade away one of Romero/Morrow/Cecil, the starting five goes from 'young and promising' to 'thin and questionable' real quick.

Agree!! I'd much prefer Snider + Drabek

I wouldn't even do that. That seems like a lot to give up right now. Yeah Rasmus could be a superstar, but we still don't know yet. Snider is a pretty good player himself. Then you add in Drabek... :-?

i'm okay with drabek being traded, his stock is pretty high right now. and i dont really see how we can flip snider for much value right now, being slightly hurt from offseason. so give me rasmus

chris carpenter got a minor injury, looks like st louis might not be able to trade him away. hopefully this means st louis gets desperate

edit:

what if st louis packages carpenter and rasmus to toronto. st louis dumps carpenter's salary to re-sign pujols. i dunno who to add from toronto's end aside from drabek and snider. would be nice to bring carpenter back and have a vet in the starting lineup to mentor the kids

trading carpenter would hardly be a traditional salary dump move. He's still arguably a top 10-15 starter in baseball, which means he's actually holds a ton of value to a contending team. They're not just giving him away that's for sure. If we are getting both back we'd probably have to give up 2-3 of our best prospects plus morrow/cecil/romero.
