Should J.P. Arencibia Be Batting That Low In the Lineup?

Post#1 » by Wally West » Sat May 14, 2011 8:43 pm

Despite the fact that J.P. Arencibia has a low average which currently sits at .220 but with 5HRs and 12RBI's, should he continue to bat 6th-8th in the lineup?? I've always felt that despite the fact that he doesn't play everyday because we have Jose Molina catching Brandon Morrow and Kyle Drabek, he should be hitting at least 5th in the lineup and with certain players being hurt he should be hitting cleanup.

Probably not.

He should be hitting fourth or fifth, though I don't much mind him hitting sixth so long as he's in the lineup practically every day. Hitting him eighth is idiotic, though, as he's very clearly one of the better hitters on the team (and has shown a totally-unexpected talent at grinding walks to boot).

Yeah I second that as well. With the way how guys like Aaron Hill have been hitting, maybe moving him down do one of those low spots from 6th to 8th and moving JP to like the 4th-5th spot could take pressure off of Aaron Hill and could be benificial to the Blue Jays short term and long term.

I think JP should be the every day 5 spot in the lineup. I'd DH him when he's not catching.

with this lineup he should be hitting higher than he is long term his bat probably places him 7th or 8th depending on the hitters in front of him.
