Hech won't move Esco to 2b anytime soon... he'd hit under .200 at this point in the bigs. Essentially Johnny Mac 2.0 until he can start being more decisive at the plate.

Re: Is there hope for Aaron Hill?
Hechs' bat makes me weep. I want to see him field.
Milwaukee's a contender if they upgrade SS. Weeks isn't going anywhere, especially since he recently signed a very cheap deal that ends in 2015.
And Reyes is going to be ridiculously overpaid by someone. I'm down for spending money, but we'd be saddled with way too much risk with him. He is insanely fun to watch, though.
Kelly Johnson could be interesting if Hill doesn't rebound. Johnson isn't having the best year though either. edit: well, he's been pretty decent actually

Aaron Hill's 2009 season seems like Brady Anderson's 1996 season... without steroids.

- Hech is actually dominating against LHP with a 0.936 OPS so there is some hope.
- Agreed with Weeks and Reyes not being realistic.
- I'd rather keep Hill than sign Johnson (Type A) and have to give up our pick.

There'd be more hope if Hechs wasn't OPSing .476 against RHP.

If Johnson is type A, then yeah. I know next to nothing about FA compensation stuff but type A is a no go.

As long as we finish in the bottom 1/2 of the league we only have to give up our second round pick.

This ^
I doubt we end up in the top 15, as the season progresses we might see moves like Edwin out for Lawrie (Who may/may not transition to the Majors well) and Morrow out to rest his arm etc.
I have a feeling this deadline might have the sights set on the future instead of the now.
How happy will AA be with a potential 10-15th pick?

Since there appears to be a hitter in trouble, (trying to be a power hitter when he isn't one), where is the hitting coach in all of this?

Re: Is there hope for Aaron Hill?
When he hit 35 HR they were all dead pull and landed in the bullpen. It'd make sense that he's getting more pitches on the outer half now and he's still pulling the ball, so his plentiful deep fly balls are landing on the track now and refuse to leave the park. Odd how he wouldn't have adjusted.
He still "looks" decent to me (just unlucky), though he does hit it in the air too much.

I don't think it's the hitting coach. I think it's Aaron Hill.
Maybe a change of scenery would be good for Hill.

Keep the 2nd round pick, sign Mark Ellis. At least Ellis plays defense unlike Hill or Johnson.

I'm pretty sure Hill plays defense smartypants

The offensive production is def. down though, I think he just needs to adjust to how pitchers are pitching him
"Wazz up!"

There's so many people who believe this garbage. I'd say you're stuck in the past. He's just not the same player he was few years ago. Anyone should be able to see that his range has decreased significanly, and he has a glove made of stone. Hands down, one of the worst overall 2nd basemen in the league.

Re: Is there hope for Aaron Hill?
What about picking up Adrian Cardenas from Oakland? He's redundant now that Weeks is establishing himself and he doesn't hit enough to stick at 3B, Cooper for Cardenas seams fair. I've read that his D at second was passable and he has a good eye and solid plate coverage. Worst case scenario he proves he can't hack it and stays in AAA forever.
