If it is, it could very well be due to the end of the steroid era

I think the Pure Hitter at DH might be done. More teams seem to be putting players who are capable of fielding a position at DH some days and in the field some days, and even rotating multiple players, through it. You still have some guys like Ortiz and Hafner playing there, but gradually you will probably see more E5 types.
