Re: Arms of the future a huge letdown
Fun fact: second-best player after Jennings over the last month? Might be Brett Lawrie. Haven't checked the numbers, but his OPS is topping 1.100 right now.

**** your asterisk.

Over the last 30 days, Votto has been best in the majors with a 1.193 OPS. Lawrie has been 7th with a 1.056 OPS and Jennings 11th with a 1.026 OPS. Some think Bautista has been slumping (or have just gotten used to an unreal Bonds-like standard), but he's been 12th in the majors with a 1.023 OPS over that time.
One flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.

After looking at the numbers, Lawrie was fourth in the AL behind David Ortiz (1.330), Alex Avila (1.169) and Granderson (1.080) among AL players with 75+ PAs prior in August. He's now at a .340/.412/.713 line since his call-up, good for an OPS of 1.125.
Avila picked up a double and single today, so I stand corrected...at the moment, Lawrie has *only* been the third-best hitter in the American League over the past 31 days.

**** your asterisk.
