My hypothetical moves for the offseason (flame away)

Post#1 » by Leolovinliberal » Thu Sep 29, 2011 6:00 am

This is what I would do, since I am putting it out there, flame away, I deserve it.

1. Trade Morrow, Drabek, Rasmus, Lind, Arencebia and Encarnacion to the Dodgers for Kemp and Kershaw.
2. Sign Fielder to fat deal.
3. Sign Reyes to fat deal.
4. Sign Darvish to fat deal.
5. That's it.

New lineup:
Reyes 2b
Escobar ss
Lawrie 3b
Beast rf
Kemp cf
Fielder 1b
Thames dh
Snyder lf
Darnaud c

SP:
Kershaw
Romero
Darvish
Alvarez
McGowan

There's no way in hell the Dodgers would make that deal, no way at all.

Jays should break open the vault.

Sign:
Pujols (10 year/$280M)
Fielder (6 year/$120)
CC Sabathia (6 year/$150) ??
Yu Darvish (not sure how much Posting + Salary would go for)
John McDonald (minimum)

Trade for:
Michael Bourn (Lind + Davis + minor league player)

Our Lineup would look awesome:
CF- Michael Bourn
SS/2B- Yunel Escobar
RF- Jose Bautista
DH- Prince Fielder (4th or 5th)
1B- Albert Pujols (4th or 5th)
3B- Brett Lawrie
LF- Colby Rasmus
C- JP Arencibia
2B/SS- Adeniey Hecherveria (His batting may not be ready, but Defence is)

Bench:
Edwin Encarnacion (Power)
John McDonald (Defense)
Jose Molina
Anthony Gose
--Maybe we can convert him into a relief pitcher if his batting doesn't come around, then we can use him for Pitching, OF Defence, and Base Running. He could be a rare 2 way player. Bring him into pitch, give him a break playing the OF for an inning, then let him pitch again.

Starting Rotation:
CC Sabathia
Ricky Romero
Brandon Morrow
Yu Darvish
Henderson Alvaerez

Bullpen:
Cassey Jansen
Carlos Villanueva
Dustin McGowan
Jesse Litsch
Brett Cecil
Luis Perez
Joel Carreno

Realistically though, we should sign Fielder, Darvish.

Fielder and Pujols are too big of games for us to win. And waiting for them to make the decision could hold us back from other FAs or trades. As for Reyes, I see a Carl Crawford coming for whoever signs him to a massive deal

IMO

1. Sign Ortiz to 3 year deal
2. Sign Darvish
3. Resign Kelly Johnson
4. Trade EE

Esco
Lawrie
Bautista
Ortiz
Lind
Johnson
Rasmus
Thames/Snider
Arencibia

Romero
Darvish
Morrow
Alvarez
Cecil

I was joking with my brother today that we should trade for Kershaw and Kemp. I don't think you get one of them with that package and I don't think LAD would trade either of them without someone offering double their worth anyway. What's the reason for the Dodgers to move them? Kemp, I think, had some unhappiness in the not too distant pass, so I guess there's a chance they'd be open to robbing you blind for the privilege of trading for him, but I don't think there's a package out there to get Kershaw, at least not one that any GM would offer.

Yeah it would be tought to get a guy who might win the NL Cy Young and another guy who almost broke 40/40 this season and could win NL MVP.
