Who cares if he would rather be hunting if goes out and OPS's at .860 again he can take a gun out and shoot birds from center for all I care. Both Rasmus and Snider should get at least 600 PA's next year, then we can judge them.

Yeah, only Escobar seems like a social human being that doubts himself on occasion and loses focus as a result.

Rasmus doesn't doubt himself - quite the opposite - he seems to have pretty strong convictions about who he is - it's just that one of them is that he doesn't care about the game or what he can do with it.

He just doesn't have a reason to say no, since the checks keep clearing with his attitude the way that it is, and too many people are invested in his success to just say "Well son, do you even want to be doing this?"

where are you getting this from? one end of year post-game scrum? i have no idea how anyone can write him off based on perceived attitude this quickly.

I agree hes been with the team for what 2 months? How can anyone think they have got him figured out already?? Even if he doesn't care about baseball who cares? Hes a decent defensive CF who hit 860 last year..... who cares if he doesn't like playing hes really really good so keep trotting him out there until he proves last year was a fluke or you have a better option.

My gut is telling me you're not far off.

I get a Jose Cruz Jr feel watching him...5 tool guy who coasts on talent, has some success at the beginning of their career, then tails off into mediocre status, at least relative to their talent level. Now it's a bit earlier in Rasmus' career, but the signs are kinda there.

We don't really know the inside deal with this guy, but if you have a player struggling who still doesn't take coaching direction or input, they will get red-flagged quick.

I care. Call me crazy but I'd rather watch hustle and passion over talent all day any day.

Now, this doesn't mean I think that Rasmus doesn't care about baseball. I still think he's misunderstood, but I think he's frustrated us all to a certain degree.

He's had past success. I don't doubt he is more than capable of returning to it. He's 23.

Some people are really reaching on their psycho-analysis of this kid based on what little he has said publicly. So he has outside interests more important to him than his job. I'm like that... many I know are like that. Doesn't stop us from being successful at both. Some people who go HAM at their job often burn out. Let him go fish and turkey shoot, get some perspective and return to his job next year with a new light. I get the feeling that LaRussa beat up this young kid so bad that he has some lingering issues that some time off and maybe a more relaxed personal approach from Dwayne Murphy could solve. They certainly worked for Bautista.

Some of you sound like the Braves fans who foolishly didn't want Yunel Escobar because of his attitude. The Jays aren't going to move Rasmus.

Hes a young CF who has better defense than Davis. (Davis was -0.8 WAR, Colby Rasmus was 0.0 WAR defensively).

Hes a young kid who does show hustle in the field. He looks like a fool with the bat this year but its more likely a slump than anything. I don't expect much offense from CF and our farm system is so deep at that position due to AA's draft philosophy I vote we just hold on to him and see what happens. We aren't in a bad position either way, and we acquired him for relatively nothing.

Our top ten prospects list on BBIM list us as having two CF prospects. 2nd place and 4th place, Gose being the latter of the two. The future is bright and we don't gain anything from selling low on Rasmus.

Eh, Rasmus' stock right now SHOULD have fell quite a bit after a really bad second half in Toronto. If it hasn't hurt his value and Rasmus is still wanted by a lot of teams for a reasonably high price, I wouldn't mind trading him. But assuming that teams wont offer much for him, I'd rather the Jays just try him out for another year -- see if he can play to his potential.

But the point of the article is rather boring. AA is known for listening to all offers and making a lot of inquiries himself -- it seems tedious for Griffin to say that AA will listen to offers, whether it's "intently" or not. I guess that's what sports writers/reporters do when there isn't anything newsworthy -- state the obvious and hope he gets some readers/viewers.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

Lots of Americans come up to Canada for hunting so that shouldnt be a problem.

I told you this guy was a hacker. Nothing changed my first impression. But some guys mature more slowly.

did anyone expect Rasmus to come here and turn it on big time?
i thought everyone concurred that last year was, more or less, a write-off.
wait until training camp before writing his obit.
