#BlueJays statement: They have amended their policy and will not grant permission for "lateral moves."

I have a feeling they talked to Farrell and he is staying, so they were confident and releasing this, as it is irrelevant anyway.

Cathal Kelly seems to agree with me - the statement today was nebulous. It basically said Farrell ain't going for free.

Any compensation the Cubs shell out is worth it if you think about it.

I would not consider Epstein a top front office guy. His record would be a lot better with that payroll if he was better than average.

I'm no big Theo fan, but you do realize he won two world series, right?

Brian Cashman won four, where does he rank in all of this? What about Andrew Friedman? He won zero.

Big payrolls cover up so many mistakes.

A chimpanzee could have won 2 world series with that payroll.

A chimpanzee would be an upgrade for the Cubs, then.

Its not just the money... you gotta know how to spend that money wisely

Gord Ash had the 3rd highest payroll in the MLB for years with the Toronto Blue Jays just before JP was hired. Yet the JAYS were garbage.

Ill agree though, Theo Epstein had huge advantage over other GMs for sure. He could sign anyone he wanted, trade any prospect he wished or even make the odd mistake without it being a team killing deal..... However, in Chicago he will have all the cash he had in Boston, so Cubs probably arent too worried about him in that regard.

it was leaked. not sure how the hell someone found that on the BoSox site, since it didn't have a link. guessing it was either hacked or it remains from his pitching coach days.
doesn't explain why he's wearing a Jays' cap.
photo is from the RedSox site and not referencing a Jays' site photo.

Not so fast, gents. As was already pointed out in the comments below, it's just laziness on the web developer's part.

Look:
Farrell managing the Rays
Farrell managing the Phillies
Farrell managing the Braves

Shenanigans.

Triple compensation 8-)

That is funny as hell one manager coaching 3 teams and two that have great coaches in place so far (Phillies and Rays)
