Johnny Mac is the kinda guy that earns the league minnimum so nice payday for him. Honestly AA probably woula paid him that too. His talent isent on par with the cash but its the other factors that AA and I guess Arizona covet..... 2 years at that price isent gonna do any damage to anyone.

Good signing for Arizona... even better pay day for Johnny Mac.

Oddly enough, he isn't...probably should be, but isn't. He's made at least $1.5m in each of the four preceding years.

i would say it's more amazing how overrated offense is! you hit 25-30 HR and watch your contract soar!

Offense is arguably the most important part of the game. To have 2 DWAR is a gold glove. To have 6 OWAR is a silver slugger. That means a premium glove is worth 3 times less than a premium bat. Johnny Mac only had a DWAR of 0.8 last year.

Defensive players might save their team a total of 15 runs if they are Johnny Mac level (over 1200 innings) above replacement while 30 home runs gains your team a minimum of 30.

Offense is underrated if anything.

In a conference call with reporters (including MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm), Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos said the team wasn't able to counter John McDonald's new two-year contract with the D'Backs due to the Jays' unclear situation at second base and with the utility spot. McDonald, a long-time fan favorite in Toronto, was expected to rejoin the Jays after being traded to Arizona last summer, but Anthopoulos said there were no hard feelings about McDonald's decision.

i'll "LOL" if they called a conference just for this purpose... He must really been loved
