Miami Marlins [Official] as of Friday

Post#1 » by number15 » Mon Nov 14, 2011 1:44 am

well not worst, but u bet its gonna go in the same category as the old Astros, and Padres jersys..... How long do u give it until people start to realize how ugly it is.

Apparently its selling like crazy... but thats expected of a new look for a team, expecially while they r going after all the top FAs.

the logo itself is just hideous, i can't get over it. how in the world that monstrosity got approved by the front office or marketing dept of the team is beyond me. i don't know how anyone can look at that logo and say "yep! this is the one guys". the previous marlins jersey is 100x better and it still sucked. this is among the worst logos in all of professional sports, including all minor league affiliates.

What you said lol

I didn't even know the Marlins changed it to Miami. If the M didn't remind me so much of the Brewers and Mariners then it wouldn't be so bad. The jersey itself is not bad, but the logo is half ass.

I'm no designer, but one of the points at the top of the M should've been used as a fin for the marlin

But yeah, the new logo is a fail

The logo pays tribute to art deco, the architectural style that "Miami Beach" as it is known today was built upon in the early 1900's as it went from being transformed from literally a swamp into a tourist hot-spot. "Art deco" is characterized by stark lines, bold colors and zig-zag architecture...

Well last time I checked the state of Florida is the worst professional sports markets (but amongst the best college sports markets) in North America. Wonder how long Miami's infatuation with baseball will last? They do realize that this same team has been a fixture there for almost the last 20 years, right?

To get nit-picky on you (or wherever you got that from), the "bold colours" are only particularly true of art deco in Miami. Most deco architecture and industrial design stuck with a pretty traditional colour pallet.

Also, if that was what you were going for, you should really try to make sure the font matches, rather than putting it with a sort of gothic font.

I don't hate the jerseys, I might even like them. The logo is really bad though - and worse yet is their mechanized home run sculpture. It's real.

That's part of the reason for the name and image change. Miami is basically two towns mixed into one. A very wealthy area, and a working class hispanic area. After years of pursuing and now giving up on the wealthy fans, they have decided to change the whole marketing of the team to the hispanic fans. Thus their big pursuit of latin stars like Reyes and Pujols, their big push to land Guillen.

Hate the design, hate the colours.
Doesn't look like a sports team logo at all.
