I'm starting to think NYY and BOS are paying "prospect evaluators" to put their guys up so high time and time again to increase their value. How is Banuelos so friggin high.

Depth is great, but it would be nice to have a bona fide stud in the pipeline with all of this talk about how great our farm system is.

Agreed. But don't forget the graduations of Lawrie and Alvarez.

Yeah, Lawrie is definitely a "bonafide stud". John Sickels said if he still qualified, he might have him ranked #2 behind Harper.

Right, but Lawrie is no longer in that farm system that is considered #1 (or close to it, depending who you ask).

You were complaining about not having a "bonafide stud", I'm saying they would no doubt if he didn't just get called up. Also, Travis d'Arnaud is a top 15 prospect according to some people. While several of the young guys have the capabilities of becoming top 15 prospects. How many "bonafide studs" do you expect to be in the pipeline at one time?

I was complaining (I guess) about not having a stud in the supposed #1 minor league system. And that has been said well after Lawrie's call up. Lawrie is a great young piece, but he's a major league player now, and IMO not relevant when discussing the current state of the minor league system.

I'm just saying, when you hear #1 minor league system, and then see just 4 guys in the top 100, with the highest being #25, something doesn't add up. I was more just asking for an explanation why this is the case than complaining.

Well this is just Jonathan Mayo's opinion. Lots of other people would have d'Arnaud higher, Gose and Marisnick higher, and Nicolino/Hutchison/Norris in the top 100.

ive sort of learned of the years that baseballamericas top100 prospect list is consistently awful, i only look at it as a reference point so i can understand how my beloved blue jays can use the common consensus to take advantage of over gm's

LOL. Poor Dickie Thon Sr.! He demands a recount!!

Seriously - loving D'Arnaud, Perez, and Jiminez all in the system. Not only a bumper crop of catchers, but our group of high-ceiling arms can develop with a capable battery-mate.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?
