I think the "yo-yoing" was worse. Nothing wrong with giving a kid a taste of the big leagues, but you need to give them some stability at one level or another.

I think both played an equal role in making this an uphill battle for Snider.

This kid is 19!
He's only 20!
He's only 21.
He's still only 22.
Hmm, he's 23?
Oh, ****, he's 24!? *Chad on Chappelle's Real World sketch masturbating/crying in the dark*

lol, I entered this thread wondering how many years I've heard the same refrain.

Snider will be a superior player to Thames. My gut tells me Snider will be moved and he'll be in that same conversation as Carpenter when we curse ever letting him go.

As a prospect this year is Snider's best before date. He's 24 and if he's not an MLB regular this year the shine will be gone and he'll be considered only a bench option. Bautista notwithstanding 22-24 are the years that most players break into the majors.

Thames is in the same position as he's already 25 so he's on the end of his curve. He has to stay up or be relegated.

I think that Thames is going to beat out Snider though.

Thames will beat out Snider mainly because it seems the organization prefers him. Still think Snider will be the better overall player though (playing elsewhere).

I say spring training is way too short for the jays to decide. I say keep both on the team, and start them both in 20 games and comapare them.

You mean that the organization preferred .262/.313/.456 to .225/.269/.348 and took a small sacrifice defensively.

I think the organization prefers whichever one plays better, and I think once you look at the spring training stats it will be clear that they will pick the better player.
