I used to think he was smart. Over the last while I've been wondering if he isn't a narcissistic suck. Still not sure.

I don't think he's terribly smart, nor do I think that he's a narcissistic suck. He's just the sort of neurotic and hyper-aware person who feels the need to analyze and question everything, from what I can tell.

Nice read-up, thanks for the link. A bit sad that he got that dickish treatment and it led to a myriad of problems for him. Definitely need to check out those books when I get a chance.

I heard him on the radio a few months ago (with Jeff Sammut). I sort of think Garfoose has some issues. Possibly Aspergers. Dude was saying things that kind of made my jaw drop.

i feel like he'd rather spend time playing in the sandbox then pitching in the majors. something about his whole obsession with his Garfoose character ( which i don't to be interesting or humourous) is a little strange.

Yeah, Dirk's a bit different. Certainly not your stereotypical professional athlete.

Interesting guy, though, and I'm sure his book will be too.

I find it hard to distinguish between when he's being genuine and when he's being his character. I wonder if he is fully committed like Sascha Baron Cohen.

IMHO what happens in the locker room should stay there. Everybody's action, when placed in hindsight, can look stupid and juvenile, when often it's just having a good time. Also I'm always of the opinion if you want to take something public, you should tell the people that at the time, unless they are breaking the law or whatever.

Or he's just having a good time. :dontknow:

I think that's missing in sports a lot these days, particularly in the NBA. Showing that you have some semblance of a personality. I'd rather have my guys making up strange characters and having fun rather than being a spoiled brat like Rios.
