Manny: I almost signed with Toronto

Post#1 » by Rhettmatic » Fri Mar 9, 2012 7:35 pm

“I almost signed with Toronto,” Ramirez said.

Why didn’t he?

“There were doubts,” he continued. “At first they said yes. Then they said, ‘We’re going to have to think about it.’

“I said to my wife, ‘In God’s path, there are no doubts.’ These people (the A’s) came in, I felt good with my heart. I said, ‘Baby, this is the team.’ ”

It looks as though God has been extremely fundamental in the decisions made by free agents this offseason. Where's his 10%?

I don't blame him.. Why would he wait for AA to get back to him? I just don't know what he's trying to accomplish by saying this publicly though.

Honestly is he better than E5 at this point? Probably not. Only so many roster spots, and better to have Vizquel around to work with Yunel, Hech and Lawrie on playing the INF.

MannyR > EdwinE .. as a DH hitting behind Jose I think that could of been the Bat we needed to scare a few pitchers because I still think he can put it over and at least at DH he is harmless.

I agree. Dude hasn't had a MLB AB since the beginning of last year when he went 1/17 with no walks. He was 39 then, 40 now so I don't see him improving without more PEDS.

He also has a bad image, beats his wife and has a history of PED's.

I would've enjoyed seeing how he did as our DH, there's not much risk there... plus if he did well, that would've boosted our market a tad.
